Hey, killer dolls aren’t for everyone. Consider Halloween Horror Nights rated “PG-13,” not recommended for children under the age of 13. We recommend leaving the little ones at home, or bring them to Universal Studios Hollywood™ during the day for family fun.

The scariest thing of all would be not getting in! Many nights sell out every year, so pick your night and purchase your tickets ahead of time. If you’re short on time and want to be sure you see every frightful sight, go for the Universal Express™ tickets. If you want to make more of your visit so you can explore The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ and the rest of the park before you brave what goes bump in the night, go for the After 2 PM Day/ Night Combo tickets and make it a monster of a marathon! General admission tickets on many of the nights are discounted when you buy online, so always check the site first!

Who says you have to wait until sundown to face your fears? Early entry for ticket holders starts at 5 PM, with select mazes and the Titans of Terror Tram: Hosted by Chucky opening early! Check park updates in the Universal Studios Hollywood App for specific times. This is a great way to fit as many nightmares into one night as possible.

With so much to run from, what should you run to? We recommend starting your Horror Night with Titans of Terror Tram, hosted by everyone’s favorite evil doll Chucky and featuring some of the most murderous monster-men in movies: Leatherface, Jason Voorhees, and Freddy Krueger. The last Tram departs a couple hours before the night closes, so take this terrifying trip first.

From there, the mazes at the Universal Studios Backlot tend to fill up first, so head to the Backlot after the tram to beat the late-night crowds hungry for horror.

Select CityWalk™ restaurants offer discounts to brave souls with Horror Night tickets, so make it a full night out with dinner and drinks at CityWalk™ beforehand. Hey, for some couples, Horror Nights make for great date nights. We respect it.

Halloween Horror Nights has plenty of exclusive merchandise commemorating all the horror stories throughout the park, so find a limited-time-only souvenir that really speaks (or screams, or howls, or laughs maniacally) to you.

From there, the only advice you’ll need are the usual “horror movie rules”… y’know, show some backbone, never say, “I’ll be right back,” things like that. And before you arrive, take a look at all the terror-fying awesomeness in store this year, to make a plan on which mazes, attractions, and scare zones you want to attack (before they attack you first!).

American Horror Story: Roanoke – FX’s AHS: Roanoke is the wildly popular series centered around a North Carolina farmhouse near the site of the infamous, disappeared Roanoke colony … and this new maze takes guests through the house and into the woods during the fabled Blood Moon.

Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining – The iconic psychological horror film has come to life as a haunt for the first time, and horror fans across the country are ready to “check in” at the Overlook Hotel and meet all the ghostly residents.

Ash vs Evil Dead – There promises to be laughs in store alongside the scares and surprises with bumbling-but-loveable hero Ash Williams in the mix as he battles the “Evil Dead”… with you along for the fight! Based on the cult series that picks up years after the beloved horror trilogy, Ash and his chainsaw hand are revved up to save the world… hopefully!

Titans of Terror – There’s a saying in Hollywood: Don’t meet your heroes. Well, these slashers are anything but “heroes” so they won’t let you down in the fear department. Enter the realms of Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Kruegar, Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface as they wave hello to their fans… with their murderous, bladed weapons of choice.

SAW: The Games of Jigsaw – If you’ve ever watched the Saw series and wondered if you could survive Jigsaw’s booby-trapped games of life-and-death, now’s your time to shine… or else. Saw makes its triumphant return to Halloween Horror Nights along with a sneak-preview of the long-awaited new Saw film, Jigsaw!

Insidious: Beyond the Further – Follow in the footsteps of famed parapsychologists to go back in time and through the terrifying world between life and death. Based on Blumhouse’s Insidious films, including the upcoming Insidious: The Last Key, some of the Further’s cruelest spirits are waiting to put your nerves to the test.

The Horrors of Blumhouse – From ghosts to slashers, Blumhouse has redefined horror in the 21st century with its new crop of original ideas that both reinvent and pay homage to fans’ favorite kinds of horror. This maze takes you through the supernatural threats of Sinister, the murderous chaos of The Purge, and the time-warping terror of Happy Death Day.
